Dear students, it is with great regret that I would like to inform you, in accordance with the decision of the university administration, the Chair of International Relations is also drawing consequences from Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine. Last week our university´s president issued a guideline in accordance with the German Alliance of Science Organizations. He stipulated that “scientific cooperation with state institutions and business enterprises in Russia be frozen with immediate effect until further notice, that German research funds no longer benefit Russia, and that no joint scientific and research policy events take place. New cooperation projects should not be initiated at this time.“

Accordingly, Professor Biermann has informed our Russian partner, the MGIMO, whose director officially backs the invasion, that this year the trilateral video seminar will not take place. It was scheduled for March 31, titled "Twenty Years War in Afghanistan. Lessons, Consequences and the Future" in cooperation with the Kozmetsky Center of Excellence at St. Edward's University (Texas, USA) and the Moscow Institute of International Studies (MGIMO University). We hope to resume our longstanding cooperation with our Russian partners in the future.
