Ph.D. project

In my Ph.D. project I will approach the notion of solidarity from a political science point of view. From interdisciplinary perspectives (including sociological and constructivist approaches), the concept of solidarity is elaborated and defined in terms of its emotional, normative, and rational dimension, and is anchored in foreign policy research and International Relations. The question is whether and to what extent solidarity influences and shapes the foreign policy decision-making process with regard to NATO-alliance. The question is to be addressed with a focus on the German foreign and security policy within NATO.
