Thinking about Peace in Times of War: The end of German remembrance culture. How a moral guiding principle failed to live up to its own aspirations

The Institute of Political Science and the Faculty of Theology would like to extend an invitation for the closing lecture of the series titled 'Thinking about Peace in Times of War' dedicated to ethical reflections on Ukraine, the Middle East, and Germany's responsibilities. The third and last lecture of the series, titled 'The end of German remembrance culture. How a moral guiding principle failed to live up to its own aspirations', will be delivered in German by Wieland Hoban, Chairman of the Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East.

The lecture will take place at UHG Aula of FSU Jena at Fürstengraben 1, Jena, at 18:00 on 28 Janaury 2026.
